Philanthropies

“To lend to those less fortunate a helping hand,” the opening line of the Phi Mu Creed, serves as a reminder that Phi Mu is committed to serving others. Since 1986, Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, a nonprofit organization that raises funds for more than 170 children’s hospitals, has been Phi Mu’s primary philanthropy. Collegiate chapters host a variety of events on campus in support of their local CMN Hospital, including BonnaMu music festivals, dance marathons, meal-related fundraisers and sports tournaments. In 1999, Phi Mu became the first women’s fraternity to establish a National Philanthropy Day, which is observed every October with members coordinating and participating in a local hands-on service event. Phi Mu also has a strategic alliance with the National Women’s History Museum in Washington, D.C.
