Philanthropies
When Sigma Kappa began our gerontology efforts in 1954, little did we know we were on the cutting edge of a fight against Alzheimer’s. Through our foundation, Sigma Kappa has become one of the nation’s leading contributors to Alzheimer’s disease prevention, research and treatment efforts. Sigma Kappa Foundation has contributed nearly $13.5 million to research and direct services. Sigma Kappa is also proud to have the longest continuous philanthropic partnership between a fraternal organization and a charity in the Maine Seacoast Mission. This relationship is a nod to our founding at Colby College in Maine. Our foundation has provided in-kind donations and funds in support of the Mission’s Christmas program, emergency relief efforts and scholarships for more than 100 years.
