Philanthropies
Children always have been at the core of Kappa Delta’s philanthropic efforts. Members volunteer more than 125,000 hours each year to build confidence in girls through the sorority’s national partnership with Girl Scouts of the USA. Additionally, chapters host Shamrock events, raising awareness and more than $2.6 million annually for Prevent Child Abuse America and child-abuse prevention agencies in their communities. To further impact families and children, the Kappa Delta Foundation awards KiDs grants to alumnae chapters to provide financial support to local agencies for programs and services that have a positive effect on their communities. The foundation continues to support Kappa Delta’s historical philanthropies: Children’s Hospital of Richmond at Virginia Commonwealth University and the Kappa Delta Orthopaedic Research Awards through the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.
