Academic Excellence Rules of Nu Delta Chapter
of
Alpha Gamma Delta
Georgia College and State University

To attain the Fraternity’s high ideals, the chapter’s Academic Excellence Rules represents a framework for each member to strive town, as set forth in the first line of the Alpha Gamma Delta Purpose:
“To gain understanding that wisdom may be vouchsafed to me.”
- I. Minimum Grade Point Average
- A. Members/new members must obtain a term grade point average (GPA) of 2.5 or higher to remain in (individual) Good Standing.
- Refer to the Chapter Bylaws for other requirements for Good Standing.
- Refer to the Chapter Bylaws for a list of all the rights and privileges of members in Good Standing.
- B. Potential New Members must have a grade point average 2.5 to pledge and be initiated in the same term.
- C. All members/new members shall strive to attain acceptance into the Red, Buff or Green Academic Honor Society.
- D. The chapter shall attain a chapter GPA of 2.9 or higher to be in Chapter Good Standing.
- E. The chapter shall strive to lead in academic success based on chapter GPA position in College Panhellenic rankings or to improve their performance each year.
- F. A member must have a GPA of 2.5 to be eligible for officer election.
- A. Members/new members must obtain a term grade point average (GPA) of 2.5 or higher to remain in (individual) Good Standing.
- II. Grade Release Form
- A. All new members and initiated members shall sign a Grade Release Form on campuses where the academic institution provides the grade point average of all members/new members to the chapter.
- B. When the campus administration does not release this information, individual members/new members are expected to submit their grade reports to the Vice President-Academic Excellence.
- III. Academic Goal Setting
- A. Any member with a cumulative GPA below 2.9 is expected to complete the Academic Goal Setting Program within the first two weeks of the academic year.
- B. Any member with a cumulative GPA below 2.9 is expected to complete the Academic Goal Setting and the Term Reflection at the end of each academic term.
- C. If a member does not complete the program, the VP-Academic Excellence should hold a conference with the individual.
- IV. Class Participation
- A. All members/new members will attend class regularly, be mentally present, complete assignments appropriately and participate in class discussions.
- V. Academic Incentives and Enrichment Opportunities
- A. The Academic Excellence Team will create and implement an academic incentive program for members. At minimum this will include: Academic Achievement Event, Marguerite Shepard Program and recognition at weekly chapter meetings.
- B. The Academic Excellence Team will create an academic enrichment plan to supplement their members’ traditional learning.
- VI. Academic Success Plan of Action (ASPA)
- A. All members/new members who do not attain the individual minimum required GPA of 2.5, or the campus minimum GPA (whichever is higher), shall meet with the Vice President-Academic Excellence and the Academic Excellence Team Advisor to develop an Academic Success Plan of Action.
- B. Executive Council will be notified of members who fail to participate in Academic Excellence Plan of Action and Midterm Review.
- VII. Calendar Planning
- A. The Vice President-Academic Excellence, with the cooperation from all officers, will ensure that the required free weekend per month is placed on the chapter calendar and that required chapter and Fraternity activities/events are not scheduled during this time or planned during weeks with heavy academic demands (i.e. mid-term exams and final exams).
- B. A free weekend is defined as either Friday afternoon through Sunday afternoon or Saturday morning through Monday morning.
- VIII. Campus Resources
- A. The Vice President-Academic Excellence shall maintain a list of members by academic major to mentor members/new members if assistance is needed. If more extensive help is needed, the Vice President-Academic Excellence and the Academic Excellence Committee may assist in finding capable university tutors.
- B. The Vice President-Academic Excellence shall also maintain a list of campus academic resources available to students so that members/new members will have this information if needed.
- IX. Communication to Parents Regarding Academics
- A. A communication (letter or email) shall be sent to the parents of all members/new members in March of each year. This communication will define the minimum academic expectations for all members of Alpha Gamma Delta, provide the campus’ all-women’s average and provide the chapter’s GPA results.
- B. Individual member academic results shall not be included as part of the required information.
- X. Quiet Hours
All members are required to comply with quiet hours as listed in the House Rules. - XI. Consequences per the Collegiate Leadership Manual
- A. Failure by individual members to follow the rules or standards listed in a governing document shall be grounds for Change in Membership Status following the procedures listed in the Change in Membership Status Manual.
- B. Failure by the chapter (or officers acting on the chapter’s behalf) to follow the rules or standards listed in a governing document shall be grounds for disciplinary action for the chapter.
- C. Governing documents of the Fraternity and the chapter are listed in Article I of the chapter’s bylaws.
